U9/U11 Coaches Meeting Recap:
Season:
The 2026 Outdoor season begins May 3 so long as fields are thawed enough for play.
Schedules will be posted to Team Ramp minimum 1 week before
U9:
Games will be played Sundays and every other Wednesday
U9 will play 7v7 and have two 30 min halves with a 5 min halftime.
No offsides will be in play at U9
All free kicks will be indirect
Retreat line will be the halfway line of the field.
U11:
Games will be played Sundays and every other Tuesday
U11 will play 9v9 and have two 35 min halves with a 5 min halftime.
Offsides are introduced at U11
All free kicks can be direct at U11
Retreat line will be 1/3 from goal line or the halfway line of the field if no line marked.
Equipment:
Each team must have 3 corner flags and the net.
Home team must supply two good quality game balls.
Game Start:
A minimum of 5 players is needed to begin the game.
Teams not meeting this at 15 min from game start will be issued a forfeit
Teams are encouraged to scrimmage, share players, and use the field if a game is forfeited.
Home team must wear pinnies if the team jerseys are too similar in colour.
No unregistered players on the field or bench area during games- Only CGSA players for insurance purposes
Each team must have a referee liaison with identifying card
Each team must remain inside their marked technical area
Trialists:
Teams may only use trialists if short players
Trialists must be from the same age group or one age group younger
Communities must be made aware of trialists used
Maximum 5 trialists per game per team.
Referees:
U9 will have 1 CR
U11 will have 2 AR and 1 CR
Referees are in charge of the game and must be respected.
Please remember CGSA employs referees as young as 12 years old. No bad behaviour towards our referees will be tolerated.
Respect:
All players, parents and coaches are reminded to respect our fields, no dogs are permitted in community spaces or green spaces and all garbage must be cleaned up.
The home team chooses their side of the field to set up on.
Parents and spectators must remain on the opposite side of the field to their team.
We ask players and coaches arrive early to ensure games start on time.
We ask nobody is on the field earlier than 30 min before start time so our liners have time to line fields and have the paint dry.
Players Attire:
All players must have socks covering shin guards and proper shoes(cleats are recommended at these ages, but running shoes are accepted)
No earrings, bracelets, rings, necklaces etc
No hoodies, or dangerous clothing
Long hair must be controlled and out of the face
No hard casts.
Weather:
The city of Edmonton will announce field closures between 2-4pm weekdays and 10am weekends on their website.
CGSA will post on Facebook and in Team Ramp chats by 4pm on weekdays and 2 hours before games on weekends regarding cancellations
If your team has not received word by 4pm on weekdays or 2 hours before your game on weekends please assume the game is on and show up.
Only referees can cancel the game after 1 hour prior to game start.
30/30 thunder and lightning rule: If you hear thunder or see lightning, game play must be suspended for 30 min and participants should take cover.
CGSA cancels games if the city has a smoke index of 6 or higher by 4pm or at any point during the game.
If a game is 66% played it will be considered finished, games less than 66% will be subject to rescheduling.
Game Sheets:
Game sheets must be completed properly and completely.
First and last names are required for insurance
We recommend filling out your roster on your game sheets for several games in advance so you can save time on the field.

Coaches Training/ Police Checks:
All coaches are required to obtain a NCCP numbers following the steps at the bottom of this page. Please send your NCCP number to your community soccer director
All coaches are required to pass a criminal record/vulnerable sectors check. These are covered by CGSA and come to coaches inbox as a request from "Hairsine Community League" Police checks must be updated every 3 years.
Discipline:
Please take a 24 hour cooling period to decide if your concern is a true concern complaint.
